When an email popped into my inbox from The Ruins my jaw dropped to the floor. The Ruins is a Seattle gem and a place I have admired and loved for a long LONG time. We have had friends who have been members of this exclusive Seattle dining club and every time I saw a feature in one of the local magazines I would 'oooohh and ahhhh' over how unique and beautiful of a space it is.
I was invited to have lunch at the venue/restaurant for the interview to see if I was the right fit to design a new website for The Ruins ... it was every bit as yummy as I had always imagined the food to be ... and it wasn't just about the food. When you walk into The Ruins you are immediately moved from streets of Seattle into a magical place that is more amazing than you could have imagined.
Sadly, their website didn't do it justice ... here is the website they had before they hired me:
While chatting about the plans and goals that The Ruins had for their new website I wasn't feeling any of that in the images they had in their portfolio ... and so, with my good friends Loren and Kimberly of Alante Photography, we dreamed up a shoot that would tell the story that was missing ... the story of weddings/events at The Ruins. I built a team of the best of the best that included: Copper Willow Paper Studio, OffWhite Beauty, Le Salon Bridal, Opulent Treasures and of course: The Ruins to design the florals, food, and their space. I produced the shoot and directed ... here are a few of the images we captured that day:
I loooooooved designing a website for this historic Seattle space ... being there in person helped me really get to know exactly what it represents and I'm so happy it has launched!
