"My Wedding Isn't About Your Marketing"

Dear Wedding Vendors,

I totally get that social media is all the rage these days … that ‘live’ videoing that puts you in the ‘wedding day goings ons’ looks super cool and makes you sound legit as you walk through the venue, or ‘live action’ feed the flowers arriving … I get that having your assistant take 4 or 5 or 6 ‘takes’ of you pulling the bouquet out of your truck to share on Instagram Stories as a boomerang look super f*cking cool … that sharing coverage of the sugar flowers going on the cake after you put all the tiers together at the venue is rad … look, I’m no fool … I know that:

SOCIAL MEDIA IS HOW YOU MARKET YOURSELF

… how you attract new clients … how you make other vendors want to work with you … but you know what!!??

MY WEDDING IS SOMETHING I PAID FOR … AND MY WEDDING ISN’T ABOUT YOUR MARKETING

I’m here. In the now. Ready to get MARRIED … it’s a REAL day for me … If I am late getting ready for my first look because you were Facebook Live sharing all the killer makeup you brought to ‘doll up’ your bride (ME!!!!!) then that throws the whole day off. If you didn’t take into account all the ‘extra’ sh*t you were going to publish on social media when you drew up the timeline and the reception room takes longer than planned to set up and my photographers have nothing to photograph when they have their slotted time, then my photos will have less of the details I spent MONTHS planning.

Look, I love watching Stories of my day through your expert eyes … the things going on behind the scenes that I didn’t see … the unfolding of everything … I understand it’s how things go these days … but I’d love my wedding to be your focus. I’d love for my guests and my family and keeping everything ON TIME to be the biggest priority … so maybe we can make a deal and come to an understanding … once I’m ready and the reception and ceremony set up are complete … feel free to take it to social media … share some snapshots of the ‘before wedding’ progress … sneak peek all your hard work … but after you make sure my day is amazing … cool!?

Love, Your Client
