KNOT GONNA SUGARCOAT IT ... WHAT 'THEY' SAID WAS F*CKED

Earlier today I wrote a blog post about what a certain wedding magazine had the nerve to publish online … if you’re curious, that link is HERE … now, say what you want about them and their target market audience … cheap, low budget, etc, etc, etc … but the truth of the matter is:

WHAT THEY WROTE AND SAID IS F*CKED UP

In a nutshell, this publication decided to ‘call out’ certain types of wedding industry related businesses and basically say:

“NO NEED TO PAY FOR THAT”

Here’s my biggest issue:

YOUR MAGAZINE WAS BUILT ON THE SMALL BUSINESSES YOU ARE NOW TEARING DOWN.

The details, the delicious looking wedding cakes and desserts, the over the top and well designed stationery, the gorgeous and pinnable ceremony floral arrangements that make people ‘ooooh and ahhhh’ are exactly what built your stupid f*cking magazine in the first place. The photos you just had to have for your blog posts … the details that you needed SO badly for your books and printed magazine pages …

YOU LOVED THEM THEN, DIDN’T YOU … ???

But oh, that click bait is just too good! You just have to have those page views … even if they are being passed around by the hard working, built their business from the ground, creative minded entrepreneurs who are sharing because what you said is so DISGUSTING that they can’t not share and tell people just how messed up it really is.

This industry works on a cycle …. the money goes from the brides, to the wedding and event industry professionals, and from the industry professionals to the different types of publications out there who spread word to brides who then put the money back into the hands of the small business owners. This cycle is IMPORTANT and if one part of thrown off, it will start to die.

NOW THE CATCH IS THIS …

We can survive without the ‘knot gonna name them’ magazine … we’re good! We have Insta, we have FB, we have Pinterest … we have wedding blogs who actually CARE about their paying members … we don’t need the assholes who feel that YOU, the business owner who works your ass off, isn’t important enough to support … who takes advantage of their massive following that YOU, the business owner, helped BUILD so they can essentially trash your worth and tell you that you aren’t needed …

WE DON’T NEED THAT IN THIS INDUSTRY.

So, what are we gonna do about that? The power is here … with the business owners … with the cake designers, and the stationery designers … with the floral designers … with all of us ;) We gonna let what they wrote stand??

XO~ Heather
